Take a Few Small Steps to a Healthier, Wealthier Future
ITHACA—Saving more money, getting out of debt, losing weight, and stopping unhealthy habits are themes common in today’s media. Changing behavior is the key to achieving such goals. Now there is a book that gives you the knowledge and the tools necessary to take control of your life.
Small Steps to Health and Wealth, NRAES–182 ($16.00 plus S&H/sales tax; 132 pages; November 2006), explores 20 similarities between health and wealth issues; reviews common obstacles to change; helps the reader set personal goals; and provides 25 strategies that can be used to modify behaviors to accomplish those goals. Readers quickly learn that taking a few small steps now can reap great rewards later in life.
This 132-page book includes 25 behavior-changing strategies, each with action steps to improve health, finances, or both. Forty-four worksheets and 16 information-packed tables help the reader adapt these strategies to their own situation. Health and wealth benchmarks are included to help define health and wealth goals. Extensive lists of references and web-based resources are also included. The guide will be useful for self-directed learning and for health and finance courses offered either in the workplace or to the general public through cooperative extension.
